Worsbrough Mill Country Park Reservoir Improvement Update Event
Worsbrough Mill is making essential improvements to the reservoir in the Country Park.
It includes repairs to the north and south banks of the reservoir, focusing on preserving the area for decades to come.
The work is taking place throughout 2023 and is due to be completed by Spring 2024.
They are collaborating with local people, volunteers, wildlife specialists, and partners, including the Barnsley and District Amalgamated Angling Society, Wigfield Farm, the Environment Agency, and contractors Balfour Beatty, throughout the project to make sure the work is carried out with the least amount of disruption possible and that the local wildlife and natural habitats are protected.
There will be minimal disruption to visitors while the work is taking place, and all parts of the Country Park will remain open, however, some sections may be barriered off for short periods or diversions put in place.
An update event will be taking place in the Learning Centre on Saturday,10 June between 11 am and 2 pm, where people are invited to come along and hear more about the work and offer their thoughts and ideas.
Councillor Robert Frost, Cabinet Spokesperson for Culture and Regeneration, said: “Worsbrough Mill Country Park is not only an important part of Barnsley’s history but also significant in terms of ecology, and home to many important habitats.
