Barnsley Museums Volunteers Celebrated at Special Event
A Volunteer Celebration Day will be taking place at Worsbrough Mill and Country Park on Wednesday, 20 September, between 11am and 2pm.
The event is being held in recognition of the amazing work that volunteers have done at Barnsley Museums’ five heritage sites.
It will be a special day launched by Cllr James Michael Stowe, Mayor of Barnsley, who will thank volunteers for their dedication and hard work.
There will be activities celebrating volunteering on the day and artist, Louise Wright, will be helping volunteers and visitors create a visual representation of volunteering through print and textiles, representing what it means to them.
It will be a great opportunity to explore the Mill with the chance to sample some delicious bread and the country park will be open on the day and people are invited to come along, there will be trail leaflets available to pick up and use to explore the area during their visit.
Councillor Robin Franklin, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “Our volunteers have given so much of their time and energy to supporting Barnsley Museums, and we would like to take his opportunity to thank them and recognise the important work that they do. It’s brilliant that people are contributing to their communities in this way while learning new skills, meeting new people, and helping to safeguard the future of Barnsley’s heritage.”
